This is your backstage path to building a profitable process serving empire. Lets get into it. Welcome back to another episode of Process Server Daily. This is episode number 31 and I'm really excited about a very special guest, Ms. Simone Williams, a process server president and CEO of Skyway Process. I'm really excited to bring her on. Welcome to the show.
0:54Simone Williams:Hey Mike, thanks for having me today.
0:56Mighty Mike:Listen, you are raining from the rainy city, is that right?
1:00Simone Williams:Oh yeah, yep. Seattle, good old rainy city. Absolutely.
1:05Mighty Mike:Yeah. So you were saying before the show that you cover different areas of like in Seattle and different places like that you cover pretty much the whole state.
1:15Simone Williams:Not the whole state, greater area of Seattle, a lot of the subsidies. South Seattle, mainly King county and partially Pierce County. So Tacoma as of right now, looking to expand in that area as I grow.
1:32Mighty Mike:Very cool, very cool. So we kind of do. It's just my curiosity got the best of me, but why don't you take just a minute, tell us a little bit about you and why you got started in this industry.
1:43Simone Williams:Yeah, so I actually got started pretty recently. So some unfortunate events happened in my life and my family. My, my father was actually a process server here in Seattle. Had been doing that for majority of my life. And so about two years ago, my father suffered from a stroke and as a result of that was unable to continue his business. And just as a way to, you know, continue his legacy but also feel closer to my father. And I took on the business and started about a year ago and been pounding the pavement since in honor of him.
2:28Mighty Mike:So process serving doesn't just have a way for you to make money. Like this is actually very. Something that's very close to your heart.
2:36Simone Williams:Yeah.
2:37Mighty Mike:Wow, that's. Oh my goodness. Yeah, that's. Well, I'm so sorry to hear that. And, and so you're picking up the mantle and knocking on doors and driving. Hopefully not eating gas station food like I did. Help me put on a hundred pounds. I'm sure that you don't have that problem.
2:56Simone Williams:No. Luckily I had a good habit of meal prepping before I started process serving. So I'm trying to maintain that. But it is very challenging some days, especially when you have, you know, very last minute something comes up and you already had plans and now you gotta Adjust.
3:13Mighty Mike:Yeah, yeah, it can be a challenge. But you know, you've been in the community for a little bit and we've been, we've had some discussions on our Mastermind meetings and things like that. But you said you're kind of new to the industry. Are you do. Would you say that being in the community you've like picked up some things that have helped you get some customers or like what are you like what has brought you your first customers? I'm curious.
3:37Simone Williams:You know, I think my experience prior to being a process server has brought me clients being personable and, and following through. I've had people, you know, after serving reach back out and be like, wow, like I really enjoyed this process. I worked with someone else previous to you and it was hard to get a hold of them. Yeah, they were all over the place or they just didn't do the job. Yeah, they said they did it and they find out later that, you know, the job either was just done poorly or not at all.
4:16Mighty Mike:And so yeah, that is, I continue to say that is like the number one thing like providing status before they ask for it, before they even think about it and getting a proof of service back within a timely professional manner. If you serve it on a Monday and you shouldn't be sending the proof on Thursday or Friday, you should be sending it on Tuesday, if not Monday.
4:37Simone Williams:Absolutely, absolutely. I try to say a 24 hour window business day and if I can't get it back to you for whatever reason, I'm going to try to communicate that as well. So you're at least in the know and not wondering what's going on.

You guys are, I mean it's cold and you get the rain. I mean being from Florida, it's, I guess I'm Biased, but. Well, how is it different up there?
6:05Simone Williams:Definitely cold all the time. Most of the time. It's starting to warm up right now, though, so I'm getting excited about that. I can't wait to break out the shorts. But, yeah, there's plenty of days where I'm like, oh, sun's out, it's gonna be fine. And then halfway through, it's raining and it gets cold. It's dark also, so. But, you know, it's a part of it. And I was born and raised here, so I'm used to it. Like, you won't catch me out with an umbrella while I'm serving papers. Like, it is what it is.
6:38Mighty Mike:Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's interesting. Yeah, I know. Every area is a little bit different and you have to get licensed there. Is that right?
6:47Simone Williams:Registration? Yes, registration.
6:49Mighty Mike:Yeah.
6:49Simone Williams:If you plan to make any income or serve, I believe it's more than 10 papers, you do have to register with the. The county that you're going to be serving in.
7:00Mighty Mike:Very cool. Very cool. So you're, you're there, you're registered, you're serving papers, you're picking up the mantle, you're out there. What is your. What is your goal for the business in the next. Let's just say, couple years.
7:14Simone Williams:Yeah, I'd like to maintain it within the family. I have siblings who I'd like to. Once I have my grounds down, I'd like to be able to teach them and loop them in and, you know, be able to pass something on in that way. Especially because I'm the eldest, so, you know, in that way. I'd also like to. I don't want to say I want to be the best. I want to be the best at providing good service. I know some folks are like, I want to be the best process server there is out there. There's so many of us, and we're all doing a great job. I don't want to be the best. I don't want to be number one. I want to provide the best service.
7:59Mighty Mike:Yeah, I think. I think a lot of people have different perspectives on. On the best or number one or, you know, and it's always a big red flag when somebody goes, you know, number one. And every time I use it, I kind of laugh. Ever use it, you know, number one. Most engaged, I like to say, like most engaged community, because that's something I can focus on. Right. And. But the thing that, the, the thing that I. I would encourage you on is that you're a very personable person being Good at customer service and getting the job served and communicating status. You're, you're not going to have any problems. You know, I mean, I know you're just getting going and picking up the mantle, but you keep going like that, you'll, you won't have a problem. And also connecting with people and not being. So I'm number one. You're going to make a lot of really good relationships with process servers because they're not turned off by you. Whereas I probably turned a lot of process servers because I'm just like, don't compete with me. You won't win. You know, and it's, it's kind of like a funny banter with some of the people who, who did engage with me. Like, oh, yeah, well, I'm better to, you know, in this. And you actually, it's healthy competition is actually really good, right? Because it's a free market, right?
9:13Simone Williams:Yeah, you got to find the balance. Like you said, healthy competition. I don't mind a little bit of competition.
9:18Mighty Mike:Yeah, that's good. That's good. So what, what makes your business different from those other ones? Right. We're talking about competition. What do you think? Where do you think you're going to stand out the most?
9:29Simone Williams:Like you said, impersonable. I'm not trying to come in and, you know, hound anybody. Very respectful. And I think, you know, a lot of people when they hear process serving, they hear, you know, they think of the movies or they think of, you know, you've gotten served. And they also think of the, unfortunately, the negative stereotypes that come with it. And they're like, oh, you're, you're doing the bad work. And it's like, no, you know, it's work that has to be done and it can be done in a respectful manner. And I've seen a lot of cases where I empathize with people that are on the other side of the papers that I'm serving. And so I try to, you know, keep it personable in that way. While, yes, it is a job, I still, like I said, empathize with people on the other side of the paper.
10:24Mighty Mike:Yeah, yeah, just you're, you're a non biased third party delivering notification that they're being sued. I mean, it's an essential part of due process and you're doing it there in Washington. It's so cool to learn a bit more about your business and how you're keeping things professional in Washington, the state of Washington.
10:47Simone Williams:Yes.
10:50Mighty Mike:So someone who's listening, who maybe is an attorney or a paralegal and they're looking for a process server in Washington. What would you want to make sure they knew about your business? Skyway Process?
11:04Simone Williams:Absolutely. Going to be responsible and get back to you within 24 to 48 hours. The job is going to be done diligently like I said, respectfully. You won't hear back on the other end. You know, Simone showed up at my door and and cursed me out or threw the papers at me. Yeah. I always strive to do my very best and I'm also open to feedback as well. You know, if I do something that they'd like adjustments to, I'm willing to work in that way as well.
11:40Mighty Mike:Very cool. Very cool. No, it's professional. I appreciate that about you. Appreciate your professionalism and all the things you're doing inside the community. Mighty Process Server to help uplift everyone. Everyone who comes in and contributes and has their 2 cents that they want to share. It almost, almost always uplifts everybody. And that's definitely you. You come in and you give, give that to everyone. So how can, how can the paralegal client other process serving agency? Are you willing to take work from other agencies?
12:13Simone Williams:Absolutely.
12:15Mighty Mike:Okay, awesome. How can everybody get a hold of you?
12:19Simone Williams:Yes, you can find me@skyway process.com is my website. Can contact me through there or send in a order form through there as well. Very skyway process.com yep.
