About Process Serving in Tennessee
Tennessee does not require a statewide process server license, but private servers must identify their name and address on the return of service under Tenn. Code Ann. § 16-15-901. Shelby County (Memphis) requires appointment, a background check, and a $15,000 bond for private servers. Summons must be served within 90 days of issuance.
